Releases and changes to FINAHQ, written for the people who have to use them on the next close rather than for a press release.

What changed, and what it means for the close you are about to run.

FINAHQ and the rise of AI

AI native. Designed for the space age.

The AI does the asking, the reading and the writing. The arithmetic stays with code, so every figure can be traced to an entry.

  1. I

The dawn of the thinking machine

    The machine

    • 1950 Turing asks whether machines can think
    • 1956 The Dartmouth workshop gives the field its name
    • 1968 2001: A Space Odyssey imagines HAL 9000
    • 1997 Deep Blue beats Kasparov at chess

    FINAHQ

    Not yet.

  2. II

    The machine learns

    The machine

    • 2012 A neural network wins ImageNet, and deep learning takes off
    • 2017 “Attention Is All You Need”: the transformer

    FINAHQ

    Not yet.

  3. III

    The machine speaks

    The machine

    • 2022 ChatGPT puts a language model in everyone's hands
    • 2024 The Model Context Protocol lets AI reach real tools and data
  4. IV

    The machine goes to work

    The machine

The machine stops talking and starts working.

In 1968 the film's computer decided for the crew. Ours asks the person, and never computes a figure.

What has changed, and why

Newest first, each with what prompted it: a request that kept coming from controllers, how people were actually moving through the product, or a framework about to move.

  1. Written up July to September 2026

Ind AS 118 and the 2026 amendment rules, worked through before they apply

Ind AS 118 reshapes the profit and loss statement, and the 2026 amendment rules apply from FY 2026-27. Both are written up line by line, for the people who will have to present them.

Why In FINAHQ a framework change is an amendment to the tool: the templates, mappings and statements move with the framework, rather than each group rebuilding its reporting to catch up.

  2. Filmed on a live tenant, August 2026

Munshi runs the close, so nobody has to drive it

The agent that works the engine for you: your procedure written with you once, then each month is the files your people already produce, and Munshi asks only what no ledger can answer.

Why The MCP gave teams the reach, and showed its limit: everything it does starts with somebody asking, and a close is the same procedure every period, not a conversation.

  3. Before Munshi

The engine, callable from the tools your team already uses

The MCP exposes the engine's own calls: load a trial balance, run the intercompany reconciliation, tie the statements, show which figures were plugged.

Why So a finance team can ask FINAHQ anything from the tools they already use.

  4. September 2025

A navigation built around the order a close runs in

More than fifteen menu items grouped into five sections, a sidebar that collapses and remembers it, and AI-assisted GL mapping out of beta.

Why Usage showed people spending time moving between features that belong together.

  5. Release notes, March 2025

A consolidated trial balance that reconciles itself

Entity ledgers plus consolidation adjustments, laid out as one trial balance that ties to the statements, so a profit and equity reconciliation needs no drilling.

Why A requirement that kept coming up from controllers.

  6. Release notes, March 2025

Associates in their own section, branches in the group structure

Equity accounting computed from the associate's profit and holding, with the journal posted for you; branches, including foreign-currency branches, carrying everything a subsidiary does.

Why Associates were being handled through manual journals on the adjustments page, and users asked for a better way.

  7. Release notes, March 2025

Total comprehensive income, split between parent and minority

Other comprehensive income is identified once, with whether each caption recycles, and the income statement runs to total comprehensive income with the parent and non-controlling split computed.

“They are consistently on the lookout to keep improving the tool.”
